Chatbot for small businesses: your website answers 24/7, your team stays in control
An AI chatbot on your small business website answers the questions you get every day (opening hours, prices, lead times, documents to bring) with your own information. It qualifies each request and passes it to the right person. We set it up and maintain it; anything that commits your business is still approved by a person.
What a chatbot does on a small business website
Answer 24/7
Opening hours, prices, lead times, documents to bring, service area: it answers with the information you have approved, evenings and weekends included.
Qualify every request
It works out what the visitor needs, spots urgency and asks the right questions. Your team gets a request it can act on, not just a “please call me back”.
Hand over to a person
When a question goes beyond its scope or commits your business (a quote, a complaint, an appointment to confirm), it says so and offers to take the visitor's contact details so your team can get back to them.
Measure what it resolves
Every conversation is counted: resolved without a person, or passed to your team. You see the real share of requests handled without anyone stepping in.
A website chatbot example: the one on this page
The chat bubble at the bottom of the screen is our own assistant. It runs on the engine we set up for your website, with your content. Ask it a real question about your project: it answers, qualifies your request and, if needed, passes it to our team.
Prefer to see the qualification step on its own? Try the pre-qualification engine live, or the front-desk assistant, which keeps the same conversation going from the reception screen to the visitor's phone.
What it does not do
- It does not decide for you: a quote, a discount or a delivery commitment goes through your team.
- It can make mistakes, like any AI assistant. It relies on the content you have approved, and anything that commits your business stays with a person.
- It does not answer the phone: it works on your website.
- It does not replace your team: it takes the repetitive questions off their hands so they can focus on the requests that matter.
Widget, platform or managed assistant: which one?
| Option | What you pay | What stays with you |
|---|---|---|
| A chat widget you configure yourself | A licence, often a modest one | Writing and updating every answer, checking GDPR compliance |
| A bot-building platform | A subscription plus days of integration | Building the flows, maintaining the tool |
| An assistant designed and maintained by AppH | A fee based on your scope | Approving the answers that commit your business; we load your content and maintain the assistant |
For a handful of simple questions, a free widget may be enough. If that is your case, we will tell you.
Your data: hosted in France, subprocessors named
The application, database and files are hosted in France on OVHcloud servers (EU). Answers are written by Anthropic's models (Claude), in the United States, which only receive the data needed for the question; for every invoiced client, through Anthropic's commercial offering, with a data processing agreement and no training on your data. A GDPR data processing agreement (Article 28) is part of every contract: details are on our Trust and security page.
Which small businesses is it for?
Any small business whose team answers the same questions every day: business centres and company domiciliation providers, estate agencies, consultancies, training providers, trades and service companies, shops with several locations. And we do far more than this list: tell us about your business.
How the set-up works
- You describe your business and the questions you are asked most often.
- We prepare the assistant with your content: website pages, prices, opening hours, documents.
- You test its answers and correct them before it goes live.
- We add it to your website, then review with you what it resolves and what it passes on.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a chatbot for a small business cost?
It depends on the number of locations, languages and tools to connect. Describe your project and we will come back to you with an estimate, with no commitment.
Can an AI chatbot make mistakes?
Yes, like any AI assistant. Ours relies on the content you have approved; when a question goes beyond that, it says so and offers to pass the request on. Answers that commit your business go through a person.
Where is the data hosted?
The application and data are hosted in France (OVHcloud). Answers are generated by Anthropic's models, in the United States, which only receive what is needed; for invoiced clients, through Anthropic's commercial offering, with no training on your data.
Do I need a new website?
No. The assistant is added to your current website; we take care of the integration.
What happens when the chatbot does not know the answer?
It says so and offers to take the visitor's contact details: your team receives the request and gets back to them. Nothing is promised to the visitor on your behalf.
Isn't a free chatbot enough?
For a handful of simple questions, yes. A managed assistant becomes useful when answers depend on your prices, your documents or several locations, and when you want to stay in control of anything that commits your business.
