ON THE GROUND

France's official France Num barometer confirms it: AI use doubled among small businesses, but stays concentrated in an already-equipped core

The 6th annual digital transformation barometer, published by France's Direction générale des Entreprises (France Num), shows that 26% of French small and micro businesses now use an AI solution, up from 13% the year before — adoption that stays very uneven: 41% in the digital sector, just 9% in agriculture, with automation cited by business owners as one of the top levers to save time and cut errors.

The barometer, covering over 11,000 companies including nearly 7,900 small and micro businesses, doesn't yet measure automation function by function (front desk, follow-ups, appointment scheduling). But it states a clear finding: 78% of business owners believe digital tools bring them a real benefit, first and foremost because they make communicating with customers easier. The gap between this largely positive judgment and a still-minority AI adoption rate (26%) marks out the space where the next wave will play out: most small-business owners are already convinced, without having deployed the concrete tool yet.

For a multi-branch network like ABCLIV, this figure reads directly: the gap between conviction and actual tooling isn't a large-corporation budget problem, it's a tool-fit problem for a neighborhood branch. A conversation that follows the visitor from the front-desk screen to their phone, without a phone switchboard or heavy CRM integration, targets exactly that core of owners who believe in digital but still have nothing concrete for front-desk reception, follow-ups, or tracking a file at the counter.

For AppH

  • The figure comes from an official DGE survey, not a vendor: it confirms, from a neutral source, that owners' conviction runs well ahead of their actual tooling — exactly the ground the Pack Accueil is built to cover.
  • 78% of owners cite customer communication as the top perceived benefit of going digital: that's the angle the Pack Accueil already carries (counter-to-mobile conversation continuity), not a promise still to invent.

Against / the honest limit

  • The barometer doesn't break results down by function (front desk, mail, follow-ups): applying it to a domiciliation agency's front counter remains AppH's own reading, not a conclusion of the official document.
  • Doubling from 13% to 26% says nothing about the quality or durability of that AI usage — some of it is one-off trials (using ChatGPT for an email) unrelated to a business assistant deployed continuously at the counter.

That the gap between conviction (78%) and actual tooling (26%) comes from an official state barometer, not from AppH, confirms exactly what the Pack Accueil is built for: most small-business owners are already convinced, they're missing a tool built for a neighborhood branch rather than a large corporation's IT department.
