E-invoicing: a rejected invoice does not exist, and its payment term does not start
Since 1 September 2026 every French company must be able to receive electronic invoices. A JDN column spells out what that changes for payment reminders.
According to Journal du Net (12 October 2026), all VAT-registered companies have had to be able to receive electronic invoices since 1 September 2026, and SMEs must also issue them from 1 September 2027. The author, an IT consultant, says the sentence heard most from managers ("my software already sends PDFs") is wrong: a PDF alone is not an electronic invoice under the reform.
The point that touches reminders directly: an invoice refused by the customer's platform over a wrong SIREN number or a missing field "does not exist", and its payment term does not run. He advises asking your provider who is alerted to a rejection and how the invoice goes back out. Supplier invoices no longer arrive by e-mail but on the platform, and someone has to match them to orders.
For AppH
- In an agency that bills domiciliation, the assistant can flag a client file with a missing SIREN or billing address before the invoice is rejected.
- A human stays in control: AppH does not register with a platform or issue invoices; the agency approves every reminder that goes out.
Against / the honest limit
- AppH is not an approved platform and does not replace your invoicing software: it helps prepare and follow up, nothing more.
- The source is an opinion column by a consultant, not an official measurement; the calendar and fine amounts it cites should be checked with the tax administration.
With e-invoicing, a missing client field blocks payment before any reminder. Better to catch it at the front desk than when chasing.
