1,165,800 companies created in 2025, a new French record: two thirds are micro-entrepreneurs with no office, who still have to declare a registered address
The Insee Première n°2092 report (January 28, 2026) puts business creation in France at 1,165,800 in 2025, a record level (+5% year-on-year). Micro-entrepreneur registrations reached 758,600, their highest level ever recorded (+6%), and the administrative and support services sector — which includes business domiciliation — grew 12%, one of the strongest sector increases in the study.
Of the 1.17 million companies created, two thirds are micro-entrepreneurs: sole structures, often launched alone, with no dedicated business premises. Each one still has to declare a registered office address on the Sirene registry at registration — using a personal address exposes the owner's privacy, renting premises is a heavy commitment for a solo launch. Insee also notes that 69% of registrations become economically active within two years, with higher start-up rates for companies (87%) than for micro-entrepreneurs (64%).
