Front-desk AI doubles among French SMEs — but lack of time remains the top barrier
The France Num 2025 Barometer (DGE, Crédoc), updated 18 September 2026, puts at 26% the share of French SMEs using AI — double last year's figure — and at 14% (+9 points) those using chatbots and assistants. But 55% of business owners cite lack of time as the top barrier to going further.
The number of French SMEs using AI doubled in a year, driven by generative AI (22%) and chatbots/assistants (14%, +9 points). But adoption stays concentrated on one-off uses — drafting, research — and far less on automating repetitive tasks (only 5%, +2 points). The barrier isn't interest: it's time. 55% of business owners say they lack time to train, and 37% (+15 points in a year) struggle to find a digital provider suited to their trade.
AppH's Pack Accueil is built for exactly that gap: no internal training to plan for, no technical setup on the agency's side — onboarding is handled on AppH's end, with human support throughout. That's the gap the Barometer documents: appetite for front-desk AI exists (14%, sharply up), but the time and the right provider are missing to take it beyond a one-off use.
For AppH
- The figure confirms an underlying trend (chatbots/assistants +9 points in a year), not an isolated fad — the market is catching up with demand that was already there.
- The source is public and official (DGE / France Num, 11,021 businesses surveyed), not a study commissioned by a software vendor with a stake in selling more AI.
Against / the honest limit
- The Barometer measures AI adoption in general, not front-desk service in physical agencies specifically — no figure in the report isolates the multi-site agency network segment.
- 37% of SMEs struggle to find a suitable provider: human support reduces that risk but doesn't remove it — picking the right partner stays the owner's call.
What this Barometer documents is a gap between interest (26% already use AI, chatbots sharply up) and the capacity to go further (lack of time, difficulty finding the right provider). A turnkey pack with no training to plan for answers exactly that second point — without claiming to solve the first one in the owner's place.
