Business climate: one point better in October, but the employment climate drops three points

Insee, 22 October 2026: the composite indicator gains one point to 97, below its long-run average of 100, and the employment climate loses three points.

  • On 22 October 2026, Insee published its business climate: the indicator gains one point to 97, against an average of 100.
  • Services edge up, retail trade and construction slip back, and the employment climate loses three points.
  • For a service agency, lightening repetitive tasks beats hiring, with a person who approves each message.

In its 22 October 2026 release, Insee reports that the composite business climate indicator, built from the answers of business leaders in the main market sectors, gains one point in October. At 97, it moves closer to its long-run average of 100 without reaching it.

The detail is mixed: the climate rebounds strongly in industry and rises slightly in services, but worsens again in retail trade and falls back in construction. The employment climate, for its part, loses three points.

For AppH

  • When employment softens and the climate stays below its average, adding a person is not always possible. An assistant that prepares letters, reminders and appointment notices frees time for the team already in place.
  • Every prepared message is read and approved by a person at the agency before it goes out: the tool prepares, the human decides.

Against / the honest limit

  • This survey measures the opinion of business leaders across all sectors; it says nothing about the activity of a domiciliation agency or about the use of AI.
  • An assistant does not replace a hire when the workload calls for one, and it does not change the economic climate: it helps keep repetitive tasks under control.

An indicator at 97 is neither an alarm nor good news. For a small business it is mostly a reminder: keeping repetitive tasks under control without hiring takes good tools and a person who stays in charge.
